The SMS you received was a standard invitation from your friend to join you on Voxer. No worries, you haven't missed any messages. "I sent you a message on Voxer" is just standard auto-populated text for the invite. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused!
Once you download the app (currently available for iPhone and Android devices) you can find your friend that sent you the text message invite and Vox with them!
